Preview Date/Time | Silent Auction items will be displayed inside the Pavilion for anyone who would like to walk through the display of numerous items. Bidding for all the Silent Auction items will be done entirely on-line this year. Photos with descriptions of each item will be entered into the on-line auction website which is hosted by Sweeney Auction Service. Visitors to the drive-through Fantasy are welcome to park and enter the Pavilion any evening of the event to view all of the silent auction items and learn how they can bid on them on-line. Anyone anywhere, whether they attend the Fantasy or not, is welcome to watch and bid on any items they are interested in until the auction ends at 7 p.m. Monday night, November 22. |
Checkout Date/Time | On Tuesday November 23rd, bidders can come and pick up their items and pay for them at the Pavilion from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. After 4:00, they can pick up their items and pay for them at the main entrance of Veterans Memorial Hospital until 7 p.m. Weekdays, items can be picked up at the main entrance of the hospital from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends and holidays, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. |

The Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation’s Christmas Fantasy is being held on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, November 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22, at the Allamakee Fairgrounds Pavilion, Waukon, IA.
This year the theme for Christmas Fantasy will be “Baby It’s Cold Outside” which is fitting for an outdoor Fantasy! A drive-through of lighted displays will be out in front of the Allamakee Fairgrounds Pavilion for anyone wanting to drive through or walk through evenings during the event. The grounds will be open from 5-9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday nights and from 4-7 p.m. on Monday night. The format of the event was changed again this year to keep the event COVID-safe.
Silent Auction items will be displayed inside the Pavilion for anyone who would like to walk through the display of numerous items. Bidding for all the Silent Auction items will be done entirely on-line this year. Reservations are now being taken for drive through meals which will be offered Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. ALL MEALS must be reserved with a reservation five days prior to the event. Reservations can be made by calling (563) 568-6262.
On Friday, November 19, BE Catered will be offering a meal of chicken alfredo, breadstick and garden salad for $12 a meal. There is also a kid’s meal option of mac and cheese and breadstick for $6 a meal. Serving will be held from 5-7 p.m. A cookie or bar will also be included in all meals.
On Saturday, November 20, from 5-7 p.m., Rich Schulte Catering will be serving turkey, cheesy potatoes, green beans, cookie or bar and a dinner roll also for $12 a meal. Reservations can be made at 568-6262.
Sunday evening, from 5-7, the Allamakee Pork Producers will be serving pork sandwiches. Please make a reservation at 568-6262. And on Monday, November 22, a Christmas Fantasy lunch will be served also as a drive through meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Milty’s Restaurant and Catering of Lansing is preparing and serving that meal consisting of chicken salad on cranberry wild rice bread, homemade chicken noodle soup, potato chips and cookie or bar for $10 per meal. Again, all reservations for all of these meals must be made 5 days in advance by calling 568-6262.
Santa Claus will be on the Christmas Fantasy grounds Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 5:30-7 p.m. He will be available to visit with children and listen to their wish list and pose for photos as well. A mail box for sending letters to the North Pole will also be on site for anyone who wants to get their letter to Santa sent early!
The event is organized by the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation members including Kevin Hanson, President; Jay Mathis, Vice President; Craig Lensing, Secretary; Nancy Schoh, Treasurer; Rose Beardmore, Sue Blagsvedt, Mitch Duncklee, Patty Goltz, Dan Headington, Judy Herman, Jane Kallevang, Ardie Kuhse, Nona Sawyer, Kim Sylvester, Matt Teslow, and Kay Zimmerman.
